Statik Selektah w/ Little Brother, Chaudon, Joe Scudda

Well, I was in BK a couple weeks ago recording this joint with Statik Selektah for my upcoming album The Canvas (shameless plug...) and he was playing me some of the joints from his new album. I think he might have hit the nail on the head with this album, there are some nice joints on this one. I can vouch for the skills of Statik, as he is on the only outside producer on my joint.

I know you've probably seen the vid for the first single, I can't hate on Cass, Mr. I need to stop doing interviews--Saigon, and Term (his album is nice too)

Truth Universal Work/Black Culture Video

Okay, I am new to the blog, but I am emcee/writer/producer/promoter/businessman Lyrikill. I represent the southern region generally and New Orleans specifically. I am on a mission to let everyone know tht hip-hop does live in the south, just not the through the corny mofos wearing those t-shirts saying it.

If you follow the New Orleans hip-hop scene at all, you know that Truth Universal has been a mainstay for the last 10 years, putting on various cats, including myself. He is an activist and emcee that is involved with everything from Black August, to Jazzfest, to the movement to free the Angola 3.

His latest video is "Work/Black Culture," directed by B Mike of 2Cent productions. His album is available at www.truthuniversal.com. The original album version of Black Culture features the legendary Cee-Know the Doodlebug (Digable Planets) and Wide Intelligent (Poor Righteous Teachers). Do your homework.

Another gem from Truth featuring Zion I "Mindframe"

Good Hip-Hop From Houston, TX

Some good hip-hop I had the opportunity to come across while in H-town. Anybody that heard a Hurricane named Katrina know that New Orleans and Houston have a special bond in the wake of the evacuations and FEMA checks. Shout to Marshall from Truehill Images for putting me up on this.

Nevertheless, these dudes have that old school 90's hip-hop sound that I wanna bring back. But you can check it out and let me know what you think.
